5 free apps to make your Mac better

- February 13, 2025 -

There’s the list of 5 free and lightweight apps for macOS to make it better.

1. TopNotch

TopNotch for macOS is a free app to hide that stupid notch on MacBooks. Works in background, also works with multiple displays and spaces.

2. Stillcolor

Stillcolor is a lightweight menu bar app running on Apple M1/M2/M3/M4. Very useful for users with sensitive eyes. This app disables temporal dithering, which can cause eyestrain and fatigue, dry eyes, headache, nausea, inability to focus, and other physical symptoms.

3. eqMac

eqMac is system audio equalizer and volume mixer for macOS. Lives in menu bar. A lot of preinstalled presets, works well with my Sennhaiser headphones.

4. Amphetamine

Amphetamine can keep your Mac and display awake (even when lid is closed) just to help get the job done. Simple on/off switch and easy-to-configure Triggers.

5. qView

qView is a minimalistic image viewer with one important feature: you can scroll through all your images in the folder. Like on your friend’s Windows PC.

Just install the apps you need and also download premium abstract wallpapers from my latest wallpaper pack and enjoy your Mac!
